Retrojar takes the position that cookies should be inventoried, not summarized. Below is a per-party list of every cookie or storage entry that may appear during a visit to retrojar.cc, what it does, how long it lasts, and how to disable it.
Set by Retrojar (retrojar.cc)
None at present. The site is generated as static HTML and ships with no first-party tracking. Should a future feature need a preference cookie (e.g. remembering a theme choice), it will be added to this list before being deployed.
Set by Cloudflare (infrastructure)
Cloudflare hosts the static site and may set __cf_bm for bot management. It expires after 30 minutes of inactivity and is required for the site's security layer to function. Cloudflare Web Analytics, which we use, is cookieless.
Set by Google AdSense (advertising)
Display ads are served by Google. The AdSense scripts can set:
- NID · Google's cross-product preferences cookie (~6 months)
- IDE · DoubleClick ad measurement (~13 months)
- __gads, __gpi · ad-frequency capping & click measurement
- FPID, FPLC · first-party measurement identifiers (region-dependent)
Control these at Google Ads Settings. Switching personalization off there applies across Google products for your account.
Set by the embedded game frame (GameDistribution)
Each game is loaded inside an iframe served from
html5.gamedistribution.com. That domain is governed by
GameDistribution's own privacy and cookie policies, not ours. Most modern
browsers block these third-party cookies by default.
How to opt out
You have three layers of control, listed from broadest to most specific:
- Browser-level: every major browser lets you block third-party cookies, view stored cookies, and clear them per-site. See your browser's settings.
- Google account-level: manage personalization at Google Ads Settings.
- Industry-level: aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU) cover member ad networks.
If you block everything
Retrojar still works. The catalog reads, game thumbnails render, the iframes launch when clicked. Ads continue to appear but will not be personalized to you.
